Come and Enjoy

Baking classes taught with a bit of conversation on the side.
Fabulous Pineapple Upside Down Cake
My name is Connie Tarbah and I have been teaching English privately for the past 15 years as well as giving conversation classes in area institutions.

Through the years, I have been asked time and time again to give private conversation classes geared to ladies - something interesting for them.
.
. Mixing baking and great conversation just seems to be the best idea.

Dark and delicious - Red Devils food cake with creamy chocolate frosting.

I decided to begin giving classes for the woman that would like to improve their English through conversation while learning to bake tasty desserts.

A true comfort food - moist carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
With only 5-6 students in each class, you can expect to have great conversations while learning how to bake your favorite desserts.  Each of the students should have an intermediate level of English. In-other-words, the student is not expected to be at reading level, however, the student must be prepared to add to our conversations!

The Class

·       Before class begins, I will show the class the prepared dessert we will be baking that day and give a copy of the recipe to each student.
·       During the first hour I will give a demonstration on how to bake the dessert with a few tips to make it successful.
·       Next a short break to enjoy a slice of the dessert made that day with a cup of coffee.
·       The remaining time will be given to the topic for discussion.  Before each class a short story will be given to each student to read through.  This will give the student a chance to think about the topic and decide what they wish to say on the subject.  The handout is easy reading – not to worry.

No materials are needed.  On the first day of class each person will receive a file to keep their treasured recipes in as well as the topics discussed with any notes they may have written.
